Lashes FAQ

At WINX, we know that getting lashes for the first time can make you nervous. We hope that this information will put you to ease in knowing that we are skilled, experienced and talented stylists. Here are a few of the most asked questions. If you don’t see your question here, please ask.

What are semi-permanent eyelash extensions?

They are synthetic individual eyelashes and come in different lengths, thickness, and degrees of curl. They will give you a fuller, darker lash line wthout the need of mascara. You won’t feel you are wearing them, and no one will be able to tell that you weren’t born with them.
They are applied to individual eyelashes, one extension at a time, for a natural, elegant look to lengthen and add fullness to the existing lashes. Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions are for professional application only. Self-application and application by untrained individuals is strongly discouraged.

What are the benefits of eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions instantly give you sexier, younger and refreshed-looking eyes. You will wake up looking lusciously lashed and find that you have a lower-maintenance beauty routine, as you will no longer need to curl and apply coats of mascara. Extensions can even protect your own lashes from the damage caused by curling and mascara application.

What is the process? What about maintenance?

The application process is very relaxing – like receiving a spa service. In fact, most clients take a nap during their procedure. You lie down on a plush table and have your eyes closed the entire time. Your technician will glue one synthetic lash extension to one of your natural lashes with medical grade glue. Your intial full set will take around 90-120 minutes, and ReLashes can be done in as little as 30 minutes.

When your natural lash sheds, the extension will fall out with that lash. To maintain a full appearance, it is recommended to get a ReLash every 2-5 weeks, with the average being 3 weeks.
Though eyelash extensions are easy to maintain, the first 24 hours are crucial for a strong bond. You should keep your lashes dry and avoid touching them. After twenty-four hours, care is fairly simple: avoid oil based products and be gentle with the lashes. They are resistant to water, sweat and tears.

Your Lash Stylist will give you a detailed, easy care maintenance instruction manual following your procedure.
Be gentle with your lashes; do not pull on the extensions or rub the eyes excessively.

Ask your lash stylist about the Xtreme Lashes® water-based mascaras and Xtreme Eye Makeup Remover, specially formulated for eyelash extensions. Do not apply waterproof mascara to extensions.

How do I take care of my new lashes?

Taking care of your new look and WINX lashes should be easy. You can continue with your normal routine but still remember to be gentle on your lashes and avoid oil based products. This includes night creams, oil based makeup remover, and non oil-free moisturizer.

Our Lash Guarantee is only upheld with the purchase of Xtreme Lashes® after care products.

If for some reason you want your WINX lashes to be removed, please make an appointment. Lash Extensions can be professionally removed by a Lash Stylist using specially formulated adhesive remover. The removal process normally takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes for a full set. Never try to remove Lash Extensions on your own. Damage can be caused by pulling the extensions off with the natural lash, removing the natural lash before it is ready to shed.

Do extensions harm my natural lashes?

There has been a lot of misrepresentation about this, but the answer is no, with proper application.
Eyelash extensions cause no damage to the natural lashes. Xtreme Lashes adhesives have been developed to exacting specifications. Our top priority was ensuring a thoroughly safe product so we chose to carry Xtreme Lashes® because they follow the standards set by the US Medical Industry and top US Surgeons. The main ingredient in both our adhesives is the same ingredient used for suture-less wound closure. These adhesives are the perfect blend of safety, longevity, flexibility and strength.

Xtreme Lashes® strongly believes that eyelash extensions are best applied by individuals who are already trained in areas like sanitation, safety, and health issues. Therefore, they sell exclusively to individuals who have previously received training in a health or beauty field such as cosmetology, esthetics or nursing. In addition Xtreme Lashes requires these trained professionals attend and successfully complete a hands-on workshop in order to purchase any of the professional products or tools they offer. Individuals in the course are graded and must submit photographs of their work for review prior to becoming certified by Xtreme Lashes®.

Why should I choose WINX Lashes?

Applying extensions is a highly technical and skilled procedure. A bad extension job can be painful and damage your lashes. Unlike some of our competition, our technicians train for months, are held to strict quality-control standards, and use the safest products. Our combination of great skill and excellent products will show in the longetivity and the beautiful, natural appearance and feel of your lashes.

Lashes should be attached to one lash only and clumps or build up of glue should not be seen. This improper lash application can result in premature lash loss and can impair future lash growth.

What if I have lashes from another salon?

If you have extensions applied by another salon, we require that you make a New Client ReLash appointment. This appointment is longer than our normal ReLash appointment and gives the stylist adequate time to assess the health of your natural lashes and the extensions applied. We do not require you to remove all of your extensions to be able to be lashed by WINX. However, in our years of experience, many clients that come from other lash salons have significant lash damage and need to have their extensions removed. It is our policy to use as many of your existing extensions as possible without compromising the health of your natural lashes.

What is Lash Rehab?

Lash Rehab is what we call the process of getting your natural lashes healthy again after having damaging extensions applied. Each rehab plan is customized to the amount of damage you have, the condition of your natural lashes and the desired look you are trying to achieve. Lash Rehab usually always includes the use of Amplifeye, an all natural lash growth enhancer, to help speed the healing process. Rehab time is accelerated when a client goes lash free for a certain amount of time.

What are Volume Lashes?

Volumation, or Russian Volume Lashes, is a new lash technique that uses multiple revolutionary thin lashes applied to a natural lash to create a fuller lash line. “Lash fans” are expertly created during the lash application using 2-4 thinner lashes. Each fan weighs less than the thickness of one thicker, traditional lash.

We use the one of a kind Lash Calculator created by Xtreme Lashes to determine how many lashes can be used in each fan depending on your natural lash thickness and length.  Each fan is still applied to only one natural lash. The result is a fluffy full lash line that creates more volume. Volume ReLashes are required every 2-3 weeks and no mascara should be used on volume fans.
